After reading clubnac's dive eat sleep shit...: Scums of the earth. about his encounter with 2 low-life scum electronic salesmen in Gain-City Compass Pt. I am inspired to write about my encounter with a similiar low-life scum (Ken T**) from BEST DENKI in PARKWAY PARADE Which causes me to wonder whether its a regulation by MOM that electronic co. in sillypore is required to employ a % of scums as their employees in other to give such lowlife assholes a job to keep our country's employment figures up... (And crime level down as I am sure that its these scums' forte.)

I was there in the afternoon with a friend who's looking at buying a fridge, plasma tv and home entertainment set for his new home. We chance upon a great looking set by LG and on the price list, it stated something like {SPECIAL - seek our sales assistant for the price}. Seeing as the other more decent looking salesman were all buzy with a customer, we approached this guy who looks like an ahbeng-convict (those that even if he didnt commit a crime, people will straight away assume that he is! just be looking at his face!). No wonders, why he is the only one without a customer to serve. Guess its our luck..

So we asked him how much the tv cost. He gave us a kind of 'Dont waste my time, you cant afford it... I tell you the price also no use..' look and gave us a price. Then after a sec, he added, if you can pay in full (no interest free installment), it will be $200 less. He stood there impatiently, as if he has a long queue of customers waiting for him to serve!! and stared as us. I felt like we were in a backalley or basketball court doing a negotiation before a 1-on-1 (fight). While my friend and I were looking at one another, he then remarked that "this price is only while stock last and the 4 yr warranty as listed is going to be reduced to 1 yr very soon" (ya... right!) Hey, I'm not stupid, I done sales before (not electronics, of coz! :p) These type of question is to try to push/nudge the customer to make a decision and also a way to testwater to see whether they are really interested or not. So we said we will go back and consider, then he threw another line.. "We also got lots of good promo and pricing, but we will only tell you when you are ready to buy.." and that he can't tell us what they are as we are only 'shopping around'. So what if we're only shopping around!? Is it not up to us whether we want to spend our time going around sillypore's ~~friendly~~ electronic shops to look for the best deal... Best deal, sound such an irony in this case.. haha. We walked away from him just chuckling and walk right into Harvey Norman next door.

Just so happened we met an acquaintance (some reservist campmate of my friend's) who's working there and told him about the special price that Best was giving. He did some calculation and said he would be able to match it for us. So we got his mobile no. and said we will come back another day.

No prizes for guessing, where my friend will be getting his TV, fridge and multimedia set! Harvey Norman! And the asshole from Best wouldnt be able to get the sale.

What's with the new Dell's TV advertisement... The one where you have 3 girls standing around and 1 of them is on the phone. They just stand around looking ~~bimbo~~ pretty exclaiming that they want a pc that can do this and do that.. Did the producer ask them to act this way... Wonder what's Dell's target market when they were planning that ad... eh.. Maybe the new ad from them would have the same girls saying things like.. "We want it to be able to upload pictures we took.." "It must be able to have broadband connections.." "We want to write blogs that many many people will read... just like our hero XiaXue.." With the growing popularity of blogging thanks or no thanks to our nation's ~~only~~ favourite mainstream paper ST, I am sure the ad will appeal to plenty! ;-p

No, no, no.. I am not talking about the good news from Pools (iBet) that will increase punkers' chances of striking 4D by lowering the cost of permutation albeit a lot smaller win. Huat ah!!!

I am talking about betting on the chances of ever hearing from "serious corporate citizens" like Ms Gu (CAO case) after she leaves SG and head for NY and back to Beijing(!!). As quoted on Today, Senior Counsel Steven Chong said "... We are not dealing with drug traffickers. We're dealing with serious corporate citizens..." Wah!! so nice description! I bet they were real serious when they were getting their fat paycheck while snickering at the no. of sillyporeans they have cheated..

But sillypore court also not kum gong!! Her bail was raised from $120,000 to $500,000! (Ever thought of distributing part of the amount to unfortunate individual stock investors who lost out greatly thanks to this cheena oil co.?) Well, at least if she dont come back, gahmen gets to pocket more money..

So any bookies out there..? :-p

Today, I woke up early to go to Pudu (KL bus station) to get a bas ride back to SG. After fighting away countless tiket touts I managed to crawl my way to the regular counter (but makeshift one at the moment becoz Pudu now under renovation) and got a tiket from the lady for the earliest one she has.

I fought thru the same sea of touts again and went downstairs to the ~~excellently well-~~ventilated bas berths. Found my bas (sometimes these pudu bas driver like to play hide and seek (the bas) with customers one.. not always confirm at the berth they suppose to be!) and got up. Got myself all comfy and ready for the ~~race~~ ride back. Took out The Star to read about the search for the missing boys on Fraser Hill and then suddenly!!!!!

Just like that time Isaac Newton discovered gravity when he saw an apple drop from the ~~sky~~ tree. It suddenly dawn on me that I need my fucking red book (not the cheena communist book, ok!) to get home!! (I left it in my gf's drawer!) I cant just turn up at the custom and surrender myself. In almost the same amount of time that it took me to realise that, I gathered all my things and quickly exited the bas.

After contemplating on my next move since I can't go home now, I decided to try to get the lady at the tiket counter to change my tiket to a later one. When I told her I left my passport at home, she graciously gave me a full refund!!

This is what I call good customer service! I will definitely go back to her when I need more tikets!

Chinese Mummy

Watched National Geographic Channel (SCV Ch 11, Astro Ch 52) during lunch time, a show called "About Asia: Riddles of the Dead: Diva Mummy" Basically, the show was about this 2000yr old Chinese National (am I politically correct?) or cheena woman as my friends will call them whose body is so well mummified that the Eyptian ones 'pi bo yen' (smell no smoke = cannot compare).

In fact it was a bit gross watching the pathologist taking out her perfectly well preserved and intact organs and brains.. I was having Penang char kuey tio and the brain looks damn like my packet of food!

The commentator also mentioned that till today they still dont really know how come the mummy so well preserved and they are unable to yet do something like this.

Anyway, the show got me thinking.. 'how come last time people so smart... isit we getting dumber by the day.. or isit last time they have magic and stuff like kungfu series where the people can fly here and there..'

For folks who have watched it, I believe you would have been as amazed as me about how well mummy looked. For folks who didn't catch it, I can't seem to find the repeat (or was it the repeat I was watching) on the programme schedule. :(

Mobile Food Wagons (MFW)

There has been much discussion recently about the ~~profitability~~ non-profitability of sg MFWs.

A lot of the unhappiness with entrepreneuring operators stems from the short operating hours (3.5hrs only!! Excellent working hours as the employee IMHO!) and limited locations they can operated in... aiyah.. In layman's words, all these = to gahman redtape and regulations (to help SG be an entrepreneuring country!! NOT!)

Examples of successful MFW.

Excellent location and everything a MFW needs under 1 roof! Can prepare, cook and wash all at the same place. With such great facilities and ambience, how not to have good food and good business...

Fragrance of on-the-spot frying of goreng pisang (banana fritters) and hot nasi lemak (rice cooked with coconut milk) being prepared.. a sure crowd puller! Look at the people gathering.. Its really good coz I also joined in and got myself some too.. ;-)

Another popular MFW. You can see them prepare and fry the 'yu tiao' (fried doughstick) on-the-spot! 1 auntie make the dough and fries and the other takes order and collect money! (Talk abt great teamwork!) Tried the yu tiao too.. Solid!

What can I say... With such good location and facilities offered to them, how can not have good food and good business..

Our gahman should relak abit.. otherwise SG sure no more MFW in the future..

**Paiseh about the text colour.. was making the redtape red then everything screw up.. still very virgin, dunno how to not make a mess and dunno how to clean up.. :-( but will try try try to perfect it.. Do more than sure will become sexpert next time.. :-p**

As the title goes, I am very virgin on this matter. I have been lurking ~~cowardly~~ quietly around sillypore's blogosphere for a while. It is a brudder of mine who brought about this interest in lurking around other's blog. And it is also him who urged me to start one myself..
